As you may know by now, we are allowed to open from 4th July subject to the Covid-19 Secure Guidelines.
Important things to note:
We are not allowed to shave, wax or perform facials, but strangely we are allowed to trim beards. We have kept the basic beard trim but not the enhanced beard trim as the advice is that time spent in front of the face is to be kept to a minimum.
We are allowed to wash and dry hair.
We are allowed to have the aircon on (hooray!)
Nobody (clients or staff) is required to wear a mask - that was a surprise! However, if you would like to wear one, please feel free to bring one in or we can sell you one for £1.
We are required to wear a visor during your service. Let's hope they don't steam up!
All services are to be performed in the shortest time possible. That does not mean we will rush it, but it does mean we will try to work as efficiently as possible.
We will be using disposable gowns.
We are to avoid talking to you face to face but instead talk to you through the mirror (which we do most of the time anyway).
Cash payments are to be avoided. Please pay by card using the card machine or 'Pay by App' (using the card details stored on the Fresha app).
Please queue in your car or outside the door unless you are an essential carer.
Please use the toilet before you come as ours will not be available.
No hand shaking, sorry.
Please use the hand sanitiser on arrival.
Please do not bring anything which is not essential (e.g. bags).
All payments and rebooking will be done whilst you are in the chair, so you won't need to go to the till area.
Government guidelines state that we should be, "not allowing food or drink to be consumed in the salon other than water in disposable cups or bottles." Naturally, preparing food and drink involves touching many surfaces, so we shall have a supply of bottled water available for you. As beer also comes in bottles which are just as disposable, this will also be available.
Please be patient if we are running behind. We have yet to see if the extra cleaning etc will have an impact on appointment times.
We were considering charging a £3 COVID-19 surcharge to cover extra costs such as PPE, extra cleaning, money lost due to a reduction in capacity etc. We shall now not make this charge and try to absorb the cost as best we can, but this will be kept under review. Please help us keep this cost down by rebooking.
Sadly Walid has now left Philip Nicholas. He made a great contribution to the team during his time here and he will be missed by many people.
If you had an appointment with Walid in July, you should by now have received a notification that your appointment has either been changed (where change on the same day was possible) or cancelled and an invitation sent to rebook.
We wish Walid well in his future career.
3. Defence Discount Service and Blue Light Card.
If you hold a current Defence Discount Service card or Blue Light Card, present it at the till for 20% off your visit. This offer is valid Tuesday to Thursday.
That's all for now. Stay safe, follow government advice and we hope to see you all again soon.
